Meet the Nominees

The nomination deadline for the upcoming board election has closed. Should the updated bylaws currently under review be adopted at the general membership meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, an election will be held immediately to select a new managing board from among those nominated. Note that this election is not guaranteed to take place as it is predicated on the adoption of the updated bylaws. If the vote on the bylaws fails, full board elections will NOT be held. It will then be up to the current SNA President, presiding over the meeting, to determine if there is any additional business to be addressed before adjournment.

A list of the nominees can be found below, along with the position for which they are running and a brief introduction outlining their experience and credentials. Note that these descriptions were submitted by the individual that nominated the candidate.

Executive Committee

Dan Kapfhammer, President

I am a founding member of the SNA Rejuvenation Campaign and am a current member of the SNA board. With my involvement with the board we have seen events expand including the Chili cook off, Back School to School Bash including the fundraising part of that event, and Fall Family movie night. I am committed to this neighborhood and am involved with many organizations across the city. I believe I am the person to steward this organization into it's new chapter.
Nominated by: Dan Kapfhammer

Duncan Robinson, Vice President

I've been involved with the SNA for the last couple of years and am excited to help drive the organization forward and make it a vibrant and engaging servant of the residents of our fantastic neighborhood. In my day job, I manage nuclear core design for six nuclear reactors in the Duke Energy fleet. A few years back, I was elected president of the young professionals society for nuclear engineers. I was in charge of a volunteer organization of over 10,000 members and 100+ local chapters across the US, Canada and Mexico. We regularly put on major events, managed a budget of well over $100k and coordinated hundreds of day-to-day activities. I think I bring a great combination of organizational know-how and leadership, experience with the existing SNA board and love for this neighborhood that makes me a good fit for this role.

Neil Boss, Treasurer

I am excited for the opportunity to use my non-profit experience for such a hyper-local cause. I worked for a nonprofit lending institution in New York City for 11 years, and as the COO of the company for 5 of those years. During that time, I also received my Masters in Non-Profit Management from New School University.

Since moving to the neighborhood six years ago l left that organization to start a data analytics and financial management company. Within my company clientele there are multiple non-profits that l help to navigate the unique issues that these organizations face. The core competencies of this role are to keep clean records, provide transparent/timely financials, and to maintain a non-profit status, and I believe I would excel in each of those areas.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed living in the Sedgefield neighborhood. In the day I work out of my back yard office, hearing the neighborhood sounds with my windows open, and in the afternoon, I usually contribute to those sounds when I play guitar on my front porch. It would be a pleasure to help the neighborhood by joining this board.

He also has non-profit experience, namely as part of the group that revived the local Charlotte arts institution, The Light Factory, back in 2014-2015. In addition, he has been supporting the Sedgefield Neighborhood Association for multiple years assisting with the current website. Kevin and family moved to Sedgefield (from Wilmore) in 2019.
